Why this matters
Hungary has had extended producer responsibility since July 2023.
Hungarian only
The OKIR and MOHU portals, official notices and invoices come in Hungarian – with no translation and no English-speaking support desk.
A KF code for every packaging item
Each product and each packaging component is classified under the Hungarian coding system.
A report every quarter
The deadline is the 20th of the month following each quarter – four times a year, without exception.
Fines add up
For unreported quantities: an additional 50% of the EPR fee, per product stream and per breach. Gov. Decree 271/2001, § 2 (12)–(13)

Foreign producers placing goods on the Hungarian market through online retail fulfil their EPR obligations through an authorised representative established in Hungary.
